If you are fashion lover you must know about fashion week. Fashion week happens twice a year in the major fashion capitals of the world Paris, Milan, New York and London. Although it is called “fashion week” it’s a event that last for a month or two, and every week different events take place. I had a pleasure of attending the williamsburg fashion weekend. From the moment i walked in to the venue i knew i was in for a show.
Williamsburg Fashion weekend is founded by Arthur Arbit. Arthur started WFW in the spring of 2006. Being a clothing designer, tailor and fine artist he wanted to help young up-and-coming designers. using the runway as a way to tell a story Mr. Arthur incorporates live music, theatrical performance and dance as part of the runway experience.
Five cutting edge designers was prepared to take the stage saturday night. Starting the show off with glitter and sunflowers was SHUTE ORGANIC. Shute Organic line is 100% organic bamboo knits. Starting as any other fabric thread by thread, by hand it is destroyed to create a unique creation.
Next was, ShocKvintagE my favorite of them all. Ramono Martelli killed the show. Like the name his designs sure puts you in ShocK! Ramono continues to take you on a journey, beyond the Normal with unique fabrics and bold colors. ShocKvintagE brings a chic to street wear.
QTEST by Melissa Lockwood, really stood up to the name and tested everyone artist views on fashion. IQ TEST clothing are made with fabrics that are collected from garment cutting factories. The fabric is what the mass producing designers throw away. The fabric is salvaged to keep it from the landfills. Truly something in never seen in fashion. Help raise awareness and make a environmental impact in fashion.
Geary Marcello i must say, had the room full of oohs and awws. The designer from Foxxy Face Couture Clubwear had a vision and everyone in the room saw it. His garments had a dark sexy feel to them.leathers, sheer, latex covered the runway as his models roll played on stage.
Last to hit the runway was Marcus Hicks. His line SDN stood out all on its own. SDN reminds me of luxury sweat cloths. with over sized ponchos loose jumpsuits he is bring back the word “comfortable” in todays fashion world.
This season is full of fun and unique patterns. Being regular will not cut it, be yourself at 100 max and show the world what you are working with.
